Initial consultation
Your first consultation will usually be one hour in duration. In this initial session, we will complete a detailed
nutritional health assessment and develop a dietary plan that combines practical and achievable strategies that
are personalised to your specific needs.
In your initial consultation, we will:
- Identify and discuss your nutrition and health goals
- Complete a detailed medical history
- Assess lifestyle behaviours
- Recall your usual food intake
- Review past and current eating habits
- Conduct detailed anthropometric measurements
From this detailed assessment, we will:
- Establish key strategies that are practical, achievable and specific to your goals
- Create an individualised eating plan is personalised to fit your lifestyle
- Provide relevant nutrition education
- Provide appropriate written resources
- Recommendations regarding follow-up consultations
Follow-up consultations
Your nutritional management is delivered to you with personal and
attentive care. For this reason you will be recommended to attend
follow-up consultations at a frequency determined by both you and your
dietitian. While some clients may receive all the information they
require at their initial appointment, most benefit from ongoing
appointments between 1 and 4 weeks apart.
Follow-up consultations are generally 30 minutes in duration, although
appointment of 15 mins to one hour are offered when appropriate. In
these follow-up sessions we will monitor your progress and continue to
provide you with practical nutrition advice, motivation and a helping
hand towards achieving your goals. Follow-up consultations generally
follow the structure of:
- Reviewing progress towards goals
- Constructive feedback and on-going practical nutrition education
- Assist with motivation and overcoming barriers
- Setting new strategies to ensure your individual goals are achieved
Couples & Families
Couples and families are welcome at Nutrition Lab. Successful
dietary changes are often easier to achieve when you have the support
of a family member or friend. Couples and family
consultations (two people with a similar condition at the same time)
are longer in duration (1 1/2 hours) and follow a similar structure to
that outlined above for individual consultations.
Home Consultations
Consultations can be organised in the privacy and comfort of your home
for an additional premium. Please refer to our fee guide for
additional information.
