Meet the Nutrition Lab Team
Alison Miles

Alison
Miles is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Sports Dietitian, and
is the founder of Nutrition Lab. Enjoyment of food and a lifetime of
endurance running has formed the basis of Alison’s professional
career in Dietetics. Having studied nutrition since the mid
1990’s, Alison developed a thorough understanding of the key role
nutrition plays in maintaining a healthy body.
Alison completed a Bachelor of Science from the University of
Queensland (1997) and went on to finish a Masters in Nutrition and
Dietetics from The University of Sydney (1999). In addition,
Alison has undertaken further sports dietetic qualifications with
Sports Dietitians Australia (2002), and has a Diploma of Sports
Nutrition with Distinction from the International Olympic Committee
(2007).
Over the past decade, Alison has gained invaluable experience
working with local, national and international athletes and sporting
teams. She is the Dietitian for the Waratahs Rugby Union Team, Wests Tigers Rugby League Team,
Sydney University Sport and Bowls Australia as well as being a provider for the many of the
teams at the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS).
Alison's career began in small regional and Sydney based hospitals
where she was responsible for many areas of clinical nutrition - from
diabetes and heart disease, to oncology, paediatrics and the care of
the elderly. This wide ranging experience as well as familiarity with
the corporate health sector, gave Alison an excellent background for
private practice.
Today, Alison continues to develop her skills with a particular
interest in sports dietetics, paediatric health, weight management and
diabetes.
On a personal note, Alison continues to enjoy endurance running
after completing her first marathon in 2006. Together with her husband,
Alison enjoys renovating their turn-of-the-century home and sampling
the Italian and Portuguese delights of her local suburbs. We might also
add that after the recent birth of her daughter, Alison is attempting
to learn the ropes of motherhood...and to make us all feel better...how
to encourage her daughter to eat broccoli too!
